Inspirational Words of Wisdom

Short Prayers For Children

Most of these lovely short prayers for children are simple verses that children should find easy to remember and be able to recite with little problem.

These selected blessings have a delightful rhyming rhythm to the verses, which makes them fun to say out loud. A few are a somewhat longer poems that a parent can read to a child until they're old enough to be able to read the words themselves.

A lovely gift idea for older children who can read is to print out a favorite blessing as a bookmark or nicely decorated laminated sheet that the child can look at while reciting the verse.

Blessings and Short Prayers for Children

Dear God

What could be better than giving thanks for all the wonderful friends you have?

Thank you for my friend next door,
And my friend across the street,
And please help me to be a friend
To each and every one I meet.

Dear Lord

This is a short prayer asking the Creator to bless the world with peace.

Creator of the world,
Help us love one another,
Help us care for one another
As sister or as brother.

May friendship grow
From nation to nation.
Bring peace to our world
Dear Lord of Creation.

God Bless All Those That I Love

This lovely blessing asks the Lord to bless all that are close to the child.

God bless all those that I love;
God bless all those that love me;
God bless all those that love those that I love,
And all those that love those that love me.

Angels Blessings

Asking the Angels for a blessing before bedtime is a lovely way to end the day.

Angels bless and angels keep
Angels guard me while I sleep
Bless my heart and bless my home
Bless my spirit as I roam
Guide and guard me through the night
and wake me with the morning's light.
