When it comes to ancient Chinese proverbs, we are most familiar with Confucius sayings and quotes ("Master Kung" 551 BCE � 479 BCE).

Confucius was a Chinese thinker and social philosopher, whose teachings and philosophy have deeply influenced Chinese, Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese thought and life.

His philosophy encouraged personal growth, governmental responsibility, proper social relationships, correct justice, and being sincere in what you say and do.

In fact he has had such an influence over so many cultures; his philosophical thoughts have been developed into a system of philosophy known as "Confucianism."

When you see a man of worth, think of how you may emulate him. When you see one who is unworthy, examine yourself.


The nobler man first practices what he preaches and afterward preaches according to his practice.
