Fungie, The Dolphin from Dingle, Ireland
Fungie is a bottlenose dolphin that arrived in the bay harbour of Dingle, Ireland in 1983. No one is quiet sure why he has stayed around, but in any case, Fungie appears to be very attached to the people living in Dingle Bay and has become quite the celebrity! He just loves to play when the boats go out with tourists, and he puts on quite the show for everyone.
I had received an email from one fellow, Chris, who had taken a video of his girlfriend swimming with this very friendly dolphin. Here's what he had to say...
"I recently traveled to Ireland with my girlfriend, and we both live in HB. We went because she says she has a "wild dolphin friend" named Fungi that lives in Dingle, Ireland. Long story short, I got some footage of their reunion after 5 years of being apart. She called to him from the banks, and from out of nowhere he came swimming next to the shoreline. She hopped in with a wetsuit and he immediately started circling her. It was obvious that he remembered her, and it was a pretty special thing to capture. If I hadn't been there to see it, I never would have believed it!"
Banker Helps a Mother Duck and Her Day Old Ducklings
When it comes to amazing animal stories, this is definitely one of those "feel-good" news stories. A banker working in a downtown office in Seattle helps a mother duck get her 12 baby ducklings off of a ledge and lead them to water. They were stuck on the ledge about 15 to 20 feet up, nervously pacing back and forth. Without his help, the ducklings would never have gotten down. What's also amazing is that not only did the mother duck stay right next to the man while he rescued her little ones, she followed him to the pond. Take a look:

Us humans aren't the only ones with mothering instincts. This black lab mix in an animal shelter adopted 6 orphaned kittens, nursed them and took care of them as if they were her own.
